Volana Events
A Volana event is a fixed commitment on your calendar: a meeting, a call, an appointment. You create and manage events right on the grid, and they don’t depend on any external calendar service.
Create an event on the grid
Click any empty spot on the calendar, type a title, and press Enter. The block lands right where you clicked, styled with a small calendar icon so you can tell it apart from a scheduled task at a glance.

Zen
- Click an empty slot on the grid, any day or hour.
- Type what the event is.
- Press ↵ and it lands on your calendar as a Volana event.
- Drag it like any block to change when it happens, or drag its bottom edge to change its length.
Set its time
Once an event is on the grid, it behaves like every other block: drag it to move it, or drag its bottom edge to resize it. For finer control (an exact start time, a duration in minutes, or an all-day toggle), open it to get the full event detail modal, covered next.
No connected calendar needed
Volana events are native: they live in your Volana account and work the moment you create one, whether or not you’ve connected Google, Outlook, or Apple Calendar. Volana schedules your tasks around events rather than moving them, exactly like it would around a meeting synced in from elsewhere.
Connecting a calendar is optional, and additive: it pulls in your external events so they show up alongside the ones you create in Volana, and lets Volana write new events back out to that calendar too. See Connecting a calendar under Calendar for how to set that up.
Three kinds of blocks
Events are one of three block kinds on your calendar, alongside task-events and Zen blocks. See Volana events, tasks & Zen blocks for how to tell them apart.
